talking innovation

welcome to thinkfuture.com
thinkfuture exists at the crossroads of politics, culture, entertainment and technology, all of which I’m interested in but I realized there was nothing really there. So I decided to build it.
I’m Chris Kalaboukis, been an innovator and technologist for over 20 years, and started using the internet back in 1992 when I built, from a old Compaq desktop PC, a Linux router to route our corporate email to the internet, and an intranet, long before the term was ever used. Since then, I’ve been involved with cable companies, building out the very first high-speed internet access trials in Canada, then moving to the San Francisco Bay area in 1998. From there, I worked on a number of things: founded an advice trading startup called AdviceTrader, worked with a small web design firm to build websites for companies like FedEx and Sun Microsystems. Most recently, I worked with Yahoo! to develop their in-house innovation programs, funneling grass roots ideas from the inventors to both product and patent.
Ever since I can remember, I’ve always also been interested in politics. I used to follow US politics from Canada for the longest time (Canadian politics is so boring compared to the show you have here) and over time, even though I was bombarded by my parents belief in the wonders of socialism, I was able to tear myself away from it AND its opposite and find the middle path. So I became a libertarian, and as I like to say “both sides now hate me equally”
Back in 2005, I discovered podcasting, and started my own show. Since then I’ve recorded over 820 episodes of audio, then moved on to video via YouTube. I started talking about the future and technology, but the politics drew me in. So I went mostly political on that show. You can find all that on the Freedom Bunker.
So, the other day I was thinking. What am I interested in: technology, politics, culture and the future. Is there anything there right now? Guess what. There isn’t.
so THINKFUTURE.COM is born.
This blog will be mostly written by me at this point, but I’m looking for contributors. So if you are interested in any of the above, let me know at thinkfuture@yahoo.com and I’ll get you set up.
